Yesterday in Genoa, Italy, the U.S. Men’s National Soccer team beat the Italian team 1-0. This marks the first time that the U.S. has beaten Italy, who had defeated the U.S. in 11 matches over the course of 78 years. Better still, our guys did it on Italy’s home turf, an impressive feat for any team. In fact, this is the first time Italy has been defeated in and international match in Genoa. While the match was just a friendly exhibition game, it is a major milestone for U.S. Soccer, the players and Coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
The 2014 World Cup will be here sooner than you think, and the U.S. just put the soccer world on notice.
